Workshop Overview

 
This workshop provides an introduction to modern & advanced nondestructive test methods for assessment of PC/RCC structures and evaluation of alternate concrete mixtures.
 
The underlying principles and inherent advantages and limitations of the various techniques will be presented. In addition, the operation of various instruments will be demonstrated through hands-on exercises.
 
At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to effectively implement modern, advanced testing methods in the evaluation of existing concrete structures and for developing optimized concrete mixtures with enhanced durability.
 

Testing Procedures relevant to this workshop include:

  1. Evaluation of in-place strength of concrete during construction and in existing structures.
  2. Evaluation of the integrity of concrete and detecting internal voids and cracks
  3. Detection of voids in grouted post tensioning ducts
  4. Evaluation of surface repairs of concrete
  5. Evaluation of in-place water penetrability
  6. Determination of chloride content profiles and estimating service life
  7. Evaluation of corrosion activity
  8. Optimization of concrete mixtures for resistance to chloride penetration
  9. Optimization of concrete mixtures for resistance to early-age cracking
